In Partnership with UNDP Nepal, the “Leave No One Behind” Initiative NIWF successfully completed the 3-day program titled, Empowering Chepang Indigenous Women and Girls to end VAW/G and Strengthen their Resiliency with representatives from the National Indigenous Women Forum (NIWF) and Senior Advisor/ Advocate at Maiti Nepal, providing a secure space for the Chepang Indigenous women to spread awareness based on gender-based violence, national laws, and policies.

The program conducted in the Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality, also introduced the Chepang Indigenous women to international mechanisms like CEDAW and UNDRIP.
11th and 12th Oct 2022, Day 1&2: Amit Tamang, Anthropologist/ Technical Officer at NIWF, provided training based on ‘Indigenous’ identity, historical situatedness of the Chepangs, and ILO C.169 at Ward 2 and 1.

13th and 14th Oct 2022, Day 3&4: Yasso Kanti Bhattachan, an Indigenous Activist/Vice-Chairperson at NIWF, provided training based on international mechanisms such as CEDAW and UNDRIP in reference to the Nepalese context in Ward 2 and 1.

13th and 14th Oct 2022, Day 3: Uma Tamang, Senior Advisor/ Advocate at Maiti Nepal conducted Training about violence, VAW/G, types of VAW/G, national and local contexts for VAW/G, Reflection of Own in Ward 1 and 2.

The event successfully concluded on the 14th after the workshops and all indigenous participants were awarded participation certificates at the closing ceremony.
