NIWF formally began the Non-Formal Education (Literacy Program) for the Endangered Bankariya Community

16th March 2023, under the initiative of MADRE Speaks, NIWF formally began the Non-Formal Education (Literacy Program) for the Endangered Bankariya Community in Ward – 4 Manahari Village Municipality, Hetauda. The 6- Month Program (divided into Parts 1 & 2 with 3 months each) shall be held every weekday from 12 P.M.- 2 P.M. and 4 P.M.-6 P.M. for the community people.

Led by teachers Santoshi Bankariya and Bishnu Maya Bankariya, this program shall focus on

1. First, providing basic Nepali Reading and Writing skills

2. While gradually shifting towards the reading and writing of Bankariya (Bankariya Language) Curriculum and History.

The program formally began on the 16th March 2023 with students ranging from 25- 55 years of age.
