20th April 2023- 23rd April 2023: NIWF under Forest and Farm Facility, a partnership of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations(FAO), International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), International Union for Conservation of Nature(IUCN) and AgriCord, organized a 4- Day Workshop Dhakiya(Wooden Basket) Weaving workshop for the Tharu Indigenous Women in Buddhabhumi Municipality- 10, Dadiwa, Kapilvastu.
The workshop promotes sharing Indigenous Knowledge– also referred to as Traditional Knowledge or Traditional Ecological Knowledge –a body of observations, oral and written knowledge, innovations, practices, and beliefs that promote sustainability and the responsible stewardship of cultural and natural resources, while also developing entrepreneurial skills and financial empowerment.
