The Kirat Women Community in Suryodaya Municipality, Ilam, under the aid of NIWF, successfully completed a 2- Day Workshop based on Preparing Marcha.
The program was focused on preserving the age-old knowledge of traditional rice-brewing practices that have been passed down in the indigenous communities of Nepal. The workshop taught the Kirat indigenous women community about the process of making Marcha; a fermenter made with glutinous rice with herbs and spices.
This practice is beneficial from traditional and economic perspectives within the indigenous communities of Nepal since time immemorial bringing together the indigenous communities during festivities and trade.
