Community Consultation visit in the Team Rural Municipality

A community consultation visit was conducted on the 9th of Nov, 2022 to Temal Rural Municipality to understand the current situation and issues of Indigenous Migrant Women. In this visit, NIWF found out that Indigenous Peoples struggle to adapt when they migrate to foreign land due to a lack of education, language barrier, and lack of information. It was also found that Indigenous Women have never migrated to a foreign country for work purposes while there were many men counterparts that migrated for work.

NIWF also requested the local government to ensure that Migrant Indigenous Peoples have better and informed access to job opportunities and also increased access to quality pre-training and pre-consultations before Indigenous Peoples especially Indigenous Women opt to migrate to foreign lands.
