LFS

Leading From the South (LFS) is a consortium created to resource feminist activism in the
Global South. This is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and is
being implemented by four women’s funds in the Global South, of which Women’s Fund Asia is the implementing fund in the Asia region. Currently, it is working with organizations and networks in 17 countries among which NIWF is one of them.
Through the LFS Grant, NIWF is working on a 33 monthly long project entitled, “Strengthening Indigenous Women’s Movement with Elected Indigenous Women Representatives from Sudurpaschim and Madhesh Provinces” Through this project, the profile of elected Indigenous Women Representatives will be published. It will also conduct various dialogues with the elected Indigenous Women Representative as well as Indigenous women, and members from Indigenous organizations regarding Indigenous Women issues and use of CEDAW to address them. This project will contribute to the preparation of the CEDAW shadow report and support meaningful dialogues with the relevant stakeholders. Another part of this project will work with ex-kamlaris (Bonded girl child labor). In this part, a policy review will be done through the lens of Kamlaris, a dialogue will be held with relevant stakeholders and a memorandum of the ex-kamlaris will be submitted to the government.
