May 10th and 11th, 2023: NIWF conducted the 3rd Visit to Chautara Sagachokgadhi Municipality Ward -5 under the Migration FPAR project for Indigenous Migrant Returnee Women with Young Researcher Sabnam Lama, resource person and NIWF Vice-President Yasso Kanti Bhattachan, Mentor Mala Rai and Field Co-Ordinator Sanila Lama
On Day-1, Yasso Kanti Bhattchan conducted a session on Indigenous Women and Identity, an interdependent relationship with Biodiversity, and verbal inter-generational knowledge transfer. Trainer Panmaya Tamang provided a session on the identity of being a Migrant Returnee Woman and the risks of Human Trafficking. The session ended with Social Mapping as a community activity to navigate the infrastructure developments in Ward-5.
Day-2 began with Yasso Kanti Bhattachan conducting a session on the Intersection of Identities. The participants discussed the identity of being a Woman, individually as an Indigenous Woman, and as a Migrant worker woman. The group also studied a chart as a visual demonstration of the topic. The Training concluded with a reflection on discrimination faced by the participants as an IW and Community interaction on how to strengthen the participant’s network.
