NIWF Board members Chairperson Sun Lama, Vice-Chairperson Yasso Kanti Bhattachan, and Treasurer Sushila Gole currently attending the 2022 United Nations Biodiversity Conference COP15 at Montréal, Quebec. COP15 will focus on protecting nature and halting biodiversity loss around the world.

Also known as the United Nations Biodiversity Conference, COP15 is the fifteenth meeting of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), bringing together countries to agree on targets to ensure the survival of species and stem the collapse of ecosystems across the world.

On 6th December, the CBD COP15 Opening ceremony took off with traditional Chief Tadodaho Sidney Hill of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy- call for recognition rights of Indigenous Peoples and partnership. Followed by a speech from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeu- together to protect biodiversity.
