NIWF hosts session on Status of the Implementation of CEDAW General Recommendation 2018 Given to the Government of Nepal

NIWF successfully conducted a session based on the Status of the Implementation of CEDAW General Recommendation 2018 Given to the Government of Nepal. This session was moderated by Ms. Junita Rai, Chair of the National Indigenous Women Forum.

Speakers included NIWF(Forum) Co-Chairperson Yasso Kanti Bhattachan whose presentation highlighted the works done by NIWForum on the implementation of the CEDAW recommendation of 2018 in collaboration with other organizations like NIWFederation, INOWLAG, and NIDWAN. Ms. Mamata Bastola conducted her verbal presentation on behalf of MOWCSW where she highlighted the efforts and works of MOWCSW to implement the general recommendations of CEDAW.

The major objectives of this session were based on sharing the works done by the NIWF Forum and NIWF Federation in terms of implementation of CEDAW with political representatives and MOWCS and learning and discussing the works done by the CEDAW focal point, MOWCSW.

After the end of the discussion, Ms. Sunni Lama, the Chair of NIWForum concluded the session with a closing speech. She highlighted the need for effective and meaningful participation of IW in the process of implementation of the General Recommendation of CEDAW. She also acknowledged the work of MOWCSW but also stressed the need for more work and attention on the issues of IW.
