Advancing Gender Equality at the Grassroots: NIWF’s Training Workshop on CEDAW for Indigenous Women

In a significant effort to empower Indigenous women and promote gender equality, the National Indigenous Women Forum (NIWF) successfully organized a two-day “Training workshop on Indigenous Women’s Rights and Leadership: Implementation of Convention on Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) at local levels” in coordination with the Melamchi Municipality of Sindhupalchowk.

The event brought together esteemed local representatives, creating a conducive platform for valuable discussions and raising awareness about CEDAW and its shadow report. Participants were encouraged to critically examine and provide localized recommendations on CEDAW, fostering a deeper understanding of its principles.

This initiative marks a pivotal step towards advancing gender equality and empowering Indigenous women within the community. By equipping them with knowledge about their rights and leadership opportunities, NIWF seeks to create a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
