We observed World Environment Day by planting “Bodhichitta” tree with Danuwar Indigenous People’s of Deubhumi VDC,Kavrepalanchok district. Bodhichitta is native species to Timal village of Kavrepalanchok district, which has been traditionally used by Tamang indigenous peoples. This tree is also considered very holy by Buddhist people. The fruit of this tree has a high value in the market.80 households have planted 235 of these trees.
On the occasion of World Environment Day, NWIF president Ms. Suni Lama also highlighted that climate change has impacted most the indigenous peoples around the world especially in the most vulnerable countries like Nepal and called for climate justice.
