Community Hall in Danuwar Indigenous Community

26 Jul 2016
Venue: Dheubhumi Baluwa village, Kavrepalanchok

After Danuwar indigenous women in Dheubhumi Baluwa village of Kavrepalanchok lost their home to devastating earthquake of 2015 they also lost their space to hold their regular women’s group meeting. The women’s group  through which they ran  their regular saving and credit was backbone to lift out  of their day to day need  of fulfilling their basic services. After, earthquake either they had to assemble under the open sky or in a crowded makeshift house to do their meeting. This encouraged Kali Maya Danuwar and Maina Danuwar to build  community building in their village. Kali Maya generously donated the land and Maina led the project on the ground. On July 26, the multipurpose community hall was handed over to the community built in support of NWIF and South Asian Women’s Fund.
